The Language Instinct - StevenPinker?

This book is well written and I've known it used in universities to introduce concepts of language acquisition. The book presents the evidence of how langauge learning is an instinct of humans, and that part of children's development is the development of language. Key to these ideas is the work of a Linguistic Professor: Noam Chomsky, who's work in the 50's re-established this movement. It gives brilliant insights into how amazing language and people are. Packed full of facts, and a love of language.

The acquisition and development of language. Why signing chimps aren't. How languages evolve. How language might have evolved in the first place. Why language is common to all human societies.

Excellent book. 50 pages in and I'm hooked -- tarquin
