This book suggests ways that techniques used by a theatre company to develop a play may be applied to software development.
Those who want to make artfully in business must constantly ask themselves whether impatience and yearning for certainty have curtailed important exploration and innovation - whether the impulse to compromise has undermined the fundamental coherence of the product.
I found the discussion on iterative development rather laboured. However, the part on control and working "on your edge" interesting. --RachelDavies
I found the whole book a bit tough going. There are some good insights - I liked the exploration of "industrial" versus "artful" approaches to making that lies at the heart of this book - but overall it feels too much like a manifesto. If you look beyond the inspirational words it's a bit nebulous. Like all manifestos it might be a good thing to give a person whose mind you want to change, but they won't be taking much action after reading this! --DuncanPierce
